Current Courses
1. PES 4210/6210 Principles of Field Crop Production (Fall, odd years)
This course describes the principles of field crop production, including cultural practices, influence of environmental factors on crop production, and cropping systems with an emphasis on South Carolina’s major field crops.
2. PES 4220/6220 Major World Crops (Spring, even years)
This course focuses on the distribution, adaptation, production, and agronomic aspects of major agronomic crops of the world. Global food security crops as well as crops important to U.S. agriculture will be discussed.
3. PES 3350 Agricultural Biotechnology (Fall, even years)
This course provides the scientific information required for better understanding of plant genetics, the potential of agricultural biotechnology to improve crop production, and utilization of biotechnology to help farmers meet their food and income requirements.
4. PES 8010 Crop Physiology and Nutrition (Spring, odd years)
This course focuses on the fundamental physiological pathways, such as photosynthesis, respiration, transpiration, and membrane transport and their responses to environment (temperature, water, and carbon dioxide).
5. PES 4960 (Section 002) Creative Inquiry in Crop Science (Spring, every year)
This course will train undergraduate students to transition to independent research, which they might do as part of a graduate program or career.
6. PES 3500 Practicum (Fall, every year)
This course will orient students with professional skills, optimal strategies, and coping mechanisms for success in joining the workforce or a life science graduate program.

Past Courses
7. PES 3351 Agricultural Biotechnology Laboratory
This course provides students with hands-on experience with what they learned in PES 3350 through lab exercises and exposes students to biotechnology- related research taking place at Clemson through lab visits.
